A WORK FOR SATB OR SSA CHOIR AND ORGAN WITH SOPRANO SAXOPHONE OR C-INSTRUMENT
PEL2002 'Agnus Dei' is a serene, lyrical setting of the text with unusual harmonies and the unique ‘voice’ of soprano saxophone. Originally composed as an instrumental duet for soprano saxophone and organ, this work was originally titled 'Winter's Dream', inspired by the stark beauty of the winter season. The original instrumental version is available as PEL7002.
A companion piece to this composition, 'Sanctus and Benedictus' PEL2024, was created as a commissioned work by the University of North Carolina at Wilmington, Dr. Joe Hickman, director.

Reviews
“On Sunday 9/16 (2001), I played a recital at Grace Cathedral on the subject of sorrow and healing ~ all NY composers. I did Paul’s Anthem (still have the original he transcribed for me at a Winter Solstice Concert, transcribed during intermission!). Of the 900 people present, many spoke to me of how much that piece meant to them. Paul’s magic and artistry continue to inspire." - Jonathan Dimmock
"Paul Halley's talent is so often overlooked. His improvisations are exemplary for others to enjoy. Looks like he is now affiliated with King's College in Nova Scotia. He was former Organist, Choirmaster at the Cathedral of St. John The Divine in New York. With the Paul Winter Consort, he demonstrated his versatility between concerts at the cathedral, and with a camera crew, provided the soundtrack on a floating trip through the Grand Canyon. All are worthy of your curiosity and initiative to locate and enjoy." - quickfoxxes (YouTube)
