About Pelagosmusic

Pelagosmusic

'Pelagos' is an ancient Greek word meaning "the deep, the open sea", encompassing our sense of exploration, adventure - and a love of sailing - at Pelagosmusic.

Founded in 1998 by Margaret Race and Paul Halley, Pelagosmusic is an independent music publisher, record label, and catalogue management agency that exclusively presents and distributes the music of Grammy Award-winning composer, keyboardist, and conductor Paul Halley.

The Pelagosmusic catalogue of Paul's published works includes over three hundred compositions covering a wide range of genres: festival pieces, choral anthems, liturgical settings, keyboard scores, instrumental arrangements, and symphonic works.  Many of these compositions can be heard on recordings on the Pelagos label or in video presentations which feature the choirs and ensembles which Paul directs (or has directed) as well as performances by fine groups from around the world.  Paul's music is available at Pelagosmusic in sheet music form as licensed digital downloads or custom printed scores as well as on compact discs and digital music files. Additionally, Pelagosmusic oversees the licensing of Paul's copyrighted works to non-profit organizations and commercial enterprises, as well as the contracting of new commissioned works and concert performances.

Meg Race,
p
resident/ceo & design director

Meg Race brings a background in operations and management, as well as an artistic eye, to Pelagosmusic. Meg conceived the company’s initial capitalization and business plan and has overseen the design and production of all recordings and published music since the company's inception twenty-five years ago.  Through the years, Meg and Paul have developed marketing campaigns and evolving distribution channels in synch with a changing digital landscape, rise in social media, and electronic distribution of products.  Meg and Paul have added hundreds of published works to the company's catalogue since 1998, and have released six additional recordings of choral, keyboard, and instrumental repertoire on the Pelagosmusic label.

Prior to the founding of Pelagosmusic, Meg partnered with Paul in 1991 to establish the Connecticut-based choral organization, Joyful Noise, which comprises the choirs, Chorus Angelicus and Gaudeamus. Meg served for six years as the first Executive Director of Joyful Noise, Inc., producing three choral recordings of the choirs directed by Paul on the Joyful Noise label.  A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Williams College, Meg pursued art as her field of study and has earned professional credit in painting, illustration, and interior design.
