AN ARRANGEMENT OF THE TRADITIONAL CAROL FOR SATB CHOIR AND ORGAN WITH OPTIONAL BRASS QUINTET AND TIMPANI

Commissioned by CBC Radio for the 32nd Annual Christmas Sing-In.  Opening with a fabulous brass fanfare, this is a VERY joyful  setting of this Christmas classic for choir, organ, brass quintet and timpani. It is at once majestic, glorious, and enlivening, for singers and congregation alike.

    Joy To The World

    Words: Isaac Watts (1674-1748)
    Music: Tune "Antioch', George Frideric Handel (1685 - 1759)
    Arranged by Paul Halley

    1 Joy to the world , the Lord is come!
    Let earth receive her King;
    Let every heart prepare Him room,
    And Heaven and nature sing,
    And Heaven and nature sing,
    And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.

    2 Joy to the earth, the Saviour reigns!
    Let men their songs employ;
    While fields and floods, rocks, hills and plains
    Repeat the sounding joy,
    Repeat the sounding joy,
    Repeat, repeat, the sounding joy.

    3 No more let sins and sorrows grow,
    Nor thorns infest the ground;
    He comes to make His blessings flow
    Far as the curse is found,
    Far as the curse is found,
    Far as, far as, the curse is found.

    3 He rules the world with truth and grace,
    And makes the nations prove
    The glories of His righteousness,
    And wonders of His love,
    And wonders of His love,
    And wonders, wonders, of His love.

    Words by Isaac Watts (1674-1748)

    "Fantastic arrangement of this carol, Paul. It's so common, I don't really hear it anymore. I heard it with my heart today. My Christmas week this year was endless pediatric surgical emergencies. Thanks for the soul lift. I think this one should make heaven's Playlist." - Wendy Willmore
