    We Love The Place, O GOd

    Words: William Bullock (1797-1874)
    from 'Songs of the Church' (Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada: 1854) revised by Henry W. Baker (1821-1877)
    Latin Text from the Liber Usualis

    Music: Paul Halley (1952-) - and Locus Iste of Anton Bruckner

    We love the place, O God,
    Wherein thine honour dwells;
    The joy of thine abode
    All earthly joy excels.

    It is the house of prayer,
    Wherein thy servants meet;
    And thou, O Lord, art there
    Thy chosen flock to greet.

    We love to sing below
    For mercies freely given;
    But, oh, we long to know
    The triumph song of Heaven.

    Lord Jesus, give us grace
    On earth to love thee more,
    In heaven to see thy face,
    And with thy saints adore.

    Locus iste a Deo factus est,
    inaestimabile sacramentum,
    irreprehensibilis est.

    This place was made by God,
    a priceless sacrament;
    it is without reproach.
