A WORK FOR SATB CHOIR AND PIANO WITH OPTIONAL SOPRANO SAXOPHONE, CELLO, BASS, ORGAN AND PERCUSSION
PEL2041 Surgens Jesus is the variant text of the composition 'Alleluias'. Like Alleluias, but with a text more suited to the Easter liturgy, this work is scored for SATB choir and piano. Ideally it is performed with soprano sax, cello, bass, percussion, and organ as well, which bring out the exciting and insistent rhythmic sections that alternate with the fluid melodic passages. A strong, glorious, and rhythmic setting of this hymn of the miracle of the Resurrection, this fresh and striking work is perfect for your Easter celebrations, when you can finally sing 'Alleluia!" The work was originally scored for instrumental ensemble, without chorus or text.
Paul Halley created this variation of 'Alleluias' for the Easter Jazz Mass for choir and jazz ensemble.
