A SETTING OF THE RITE II 'GLORY TO GOD' FOR SATB, ORGAN AND CONGREGATION

This setting of Canticle 20 "Glory to God" was written for the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City. Beginning with the choir and congregation in unison, at the words, "Lord Jesus Christ, only Son of the Father" a semi-chorus of sopranos, altos and tenors sing an echo of the main tune. Towards the end the sopranos soar above the choir and congregation for a fitting close. There is also the opportunity for free-ringing hand bells (D pentatonic) to play as well.
