A WORK FOR SOLO ORGAN.

A masterful transcription of the original keyboard trio composition from Paul Halley's Triptych CD.  The varying themes and textures, originally assigned alternatively to piano, pipe organ, and harpsichord, are all in evidence here on a variety of organ stops. A swirling, spiraling, dynamic piece, named for our nearest neighbor galaxy. A play on sevens forms this contemporary masterpiece.

This piece is also available in the original version for piano, organ and harpsichord at PEL4005 as included on the Pelagosmusic recording "Triptych", featuring keyboard works of Paul Halley (PEL1003)

    COMPOSER'S NOTES
    Paul Halley

"I can't stop playing with sevens and I wanted a piece that would feature each individual instrument in an extended solo. The title came long after the piece was recorded. Friends and family all agreed that the music had a spinning, spiraling quality but it took weeks to come up with a suitable name. At one point I got sufficiently frustrated to suggest that the piece be called 'Prelude No. 11 in A minor'. Those older composers had it easy."

Playing music that is at once vibrant and intricately contrapuntal, he deploys the instruments with a symphonic sense of coloration.” - Billboard Magazine
