A DUET FOR PIANO AND ORGAN

A graceful coupling of two themes, one original and one the 7th century plainsong melody "Conditor alme siderum" (Creator of the Stars of Night), a melody Halley uses again in his large choral work, "In Sideribus Domi: At Home In The Stars".

Included on the Pelagosmusic recording "Triptych", featuring keyboard works of Paul Halley (PEL1003)

    COMPOSER'S NOTES
    Paul Halley
'This piece was taken from a commissioned work, in this case a song cycle for mezzo-soprano and baritone, called Evening Songs. Gerald Finley and Louise Winter asked me to write settings of seven poems by Max Ehrmann that would actually incorporate such musical devices as melody and harmony. Church music fanatics like myself will notice the use of the plainsong melody 'Conditor alme siderum', and organ buffs will detect the (hopefully) subtle use of the harp stop.'
