"Paul
Halley is an immensely creative musician who gathers inspiration from
wherever the wind blows. 'Angel on a Stone Wall' is both beautiful and
inspiring, enlightening and free." - Soundwaves
"The
melodies Paul Halley wrote for his solo
piano/pipe organ LP are so tuneful Barry Manilow would become an
axe murderer just for the chance to say ‘I wrote them’." - The Cincinnati
Enquirer

Ensemble Version for piano, soprano sax,
alto saxophone (opt.), organ, and rhythm section
Level:
Difficult
NEW!
The original ensemble
version of this work was created for the 1990 Paul Winter
Consort album, 'Earth: Voices of a Planet', to commemorate the
20th anniversary of Earth Day. The album was nominated for a
Grammy Award in 1991. Performed by the Consort on international
concert tours, this work quickly became an audience favorite and
part of the Consort's standard repertoire. More recently, Paul
Halley has used this work in the Easter Jazz Mass program he has
put together for All Saints Cathedral, Halifax and, in a
previous life, at Trinity Episcopal Torrington.

Ensemble Version for piano, soprano sax,
keyboard, and rhythm section
Level:
Difficult
NEW!
The original ensemble
version of this work was intended for release on the 1991 album,
'Angel On A Stone Wall', featuring ten new Paul Halley compositions.
However, Paul Winter needed additonal material for The Paul
Winter Consort recording, 'Earth: Voices of a
Planet',
so the piece premiered on that album instead. In 1992, Paul Halley's "Appalachian
Morning" was licensed for arrangement to John Williams and The
Boston Pops Orchestra (Patrick Williams, arranger) for release
on "The Green Album", and is often played at Boston Pops July
4th celebrations to date.
'Appalachian Morning' is
frequently licensed for arrangement to marching bands and bugle
corps, and is available in a percussion ensemble arrangement at
Tapspace.com. For

Says one listener: "I heard
this piece watching Aimachi Winter Guard several years ago...I
thought this was a Pat Metheny composition; it has the movement
I associate with Pat Metheny's music...Finally, I stand
corrected, and finally learned who wrote this beautiful piece."

Duet for Cello and Organ
Level:
Difficult
The exclusively
authorized Pelagosmusic publication of this
work by Eugene Friesen and Paul Halley from their 'New Friend'
recording of 1985, a series of keyboard and cello
improvisations recorded in The Cathedral of St. John The Divine,
New York. A delightful interplay between two consummate players.
"Cathedral
Pines" is a minor masterpiece in terms of its lyrical beauty and
soaring cello work by Friesen, perfectly matched note-for-note
by Halley's uncanny choices of voice leading, harmonies, and
organ voicing. More than once I've simply replayed this track
time and again, wallowing in its mellow, gentle beauty. It is
truly one of the finest things these two have ever done." - Bob

"I've had the pleasure of seeing Eugene Friesen and Paul
Halley perform together many times, and can vouch for the fact
that their "act" is fully-improvised (at times, very much to my
wonderment). These two instrumentalsists feed off each other in
a way tha t borders on psychic connection, so well-formed and
interconnected are their musical thoughts and threads." - Bob

The exclusively
authorized Pelagosmusic publication of this
work by Eugene Friesen and Paul Halley, created for Eugene's
ensemble recording "Arms Around You" circa 1989. Although many
of the works on the CD included ensemble players, 'Remembering
You', is a simpler, more poignant statement for cello, piano,
and organ. Deciated to Friesen's father.
"Eugene Friesen brings the most exquisite melancholy into the
life of his cello." R.Julian.
"The duets of Eugene
Friesen and Paul Halley can be playful or ruminative or some of
both. All are lyrical, some unabashedly so." - Bob Zeidler,
Listmania.
